About Me

Thank you for visiting my blog!

I started this blog over a year ago. When I started it I had big dreams of building my platform to launch my writing career. I was going to review books that I read and write about stuff, wasn’t really sure, but there would be writing. But of courses that’s not what really happened.

I learned that I’m an activist.  I’ve never been one for sit-ins or protesting and my idea of activism meant getting in people faces and getting loud. I’m an introvert, so that wasn’t going to happen. But over the last year I have learned that activism can come in different ways. You can do it from your couch or an isolated cabin… activism is about doing something to expand the minds of people to embrace change.

I have a thing for minority women who write science fiction and fantasy. I’m a writer, but above all I’m a reader. I love science fiction and fantasy for so many reasons and think everyone should read at least one SF or Fantasy book in their life. I’m also aware that it’s kind of hard to find a new minority author, so it is important to share authors when you find them.

I went to my first COMIC CON. Really need I say more?!

I became a BLM Girl.  Bloggers Like Me is a diverse community of women bloggers supporting each other in their professional and personal quest to become better bloggers. If you are a female blogger you want to be a part of this group.

I learned about amazing women who write science fiction, fantasy, and work in science technology, engineering, and mathematics. For the novice interested in learning more about writing science fiction and fantasy, it’s not as hard as you might think to find like minded people. FaceBook has several groups, use Twitter to find similar profiles, join a LinkedIn group, go to a MeetUp (if you have one in your community), and check out my resources page.

I truly enjoyed the last year because I learned so much and meet some amazing people. But in December two things happened in my personal life that shook my world. Now two months later I see that what my life was before is now over. It’s time that I start over and find a new direction for my life. I had considered closing my blog, but I won’t instead I’m going to take some time to figure out what’s best for me. I don’t know where my life will take me or what I’ll be doing but for now I’m going to step away from Hellar Reviews.

The blog posts will remain, so please feel free to share them.

All my best
